BC Marine Invert Key

Digital Museum Collection

Ecological surveys undertaken by members of the lab (Cathryn Clarke Murray and Megan Mach) have resulted in a large specimen collection of BC’s marine diversity.  With the assistance of a grant from the Irving K Barber Learning Centre’s BC History Digitization Program we now have digital photographs of the entire reference collection (over 350 species) totalling over 1000 photographs. Each species has a type photograph in addition to photographs of each identifying feature, at high magnification.
The images and accompanying biological information are available on a dedicated LifeDesk entitled “Marine Biodiversity of British Columbia”:
